so what exactly does the mtv culture expect of the female mc? must she fold into the idea that speaking sex is what will get her record played or can she actually make social commentary and still be loved? (erykah badu isn’t on there either, this bothers me just the same.)

the previous videos were left for you to compare the quality of both as mc’s. lauryn hill matured past her days with the fugees and became a solo artist (not very prolific, but very eloquent and classy) but even as a group one could value the fact that she wasn’t out in the world as a chickenhead with her boob dangling (you can argue that this is female liberation at its finest but i’m still gonna ask you that if you don’t have class, what the fuck are you doing), but rather as a woman who could rap.
